World Book Day at St Paul’s Catholic Primary School in Billingham was a truly magical celebration of stories, imagination and creativity. From Nursery to Year 6, our children embraced the joy of reading with enthusiasm and excitement.

A School Filled With Colour and Creativity

The day began with a burst of energy as children arrived dressed as their favourite book characters. From timeless classics to modern storybook heroes, the corridors of St Paul’s Catholic Primary School in Billingham were transformed into a world of colour, imagination and adventure. It was wonderful to see reading brought to life through such thoughtful and creative costumes.

Sharing Stories and Celebrating Books

Throughout the morning, children shared their favourite books with one another, proudly recommending stories they love and discovering new ones. It was fantastic to see so many confident readers talking passionately about books that inspire them.

A Special Visit From Author Janine Andrews

We were thrilled to welcome author Janine Andrews, who shared her beautiful book The Little Wildflower with our pupils. Her storytelling captivated the children, and her visit sparked so much excitement about reading, writing and storytelling. We are incredibly grateful for the inspiration she brought to our school community.

Creating a Whole-School Story

One of the most memorable highlights of the day was our whole-school story project. Beginning in Nursery, each class added their own imaginative chapter before passing it on. By the time it reached Year 6, our young writers brought the story to a spectacular finale!
The teamwork, creativity and enthusiasm shown by every class was truly amazing.
