Creating an inclusive learning environment where every child can flourish is a top priority at St Paul’s Catholic Primary School in Billingham. This commitment was recently strengthened through an exciting partnership that will have a lasting impact on pupils in the Early Years.

A Special Visit and a Meaningful Award

The school was delighted to welcome Julie Davis, Founder and Managing Director of Future Steps Occupational Therapy, who visited to present the Carolyn McTimoney Occupational Therapy Scholarship. This generous support marks an important step forward in enhancing specialist support in primary education.

Specialist Occupational Therapy for Early Years Pupils

Thanks to this scholarship, the school will now be able to provide specialist occupational therapy for Early Years children, including carefully tailored sensory-motor programmes and handwriting support. These targeted interventions are designed to promote inclusion, strengthen emotional well-being, and help children develop the skills they need to succeed both in and out of the classroom.

Building Expertise to Remove Barriers

Alongside pupil support, staff training will play a key role in ensuring long-term impact. By building professional knowledge and confidence, staff will be better equipped to remove barriers to learning and create an environment where every child has equal opportunities to thrive.

A Partnership with Purpose

The school community is incredibly grateful for this opportunity and excited to see the positive difference this occupational therapy partnership will make. Initiatives like this highlight the importance of collaboration in supporting early childhood development and nurturing confident, capable learners.
