Our Years 4 - 6 pupils enjoyed an exciting and inspiring opportunity this week as they teamed up with Yarm School to explore the world of coding using micro:bits. And what a session it was!

From the moment the children got their hands on the devices, the room was buzzing with curiosity and creativity. They quickly got to grips with programming and were amazed by just how much these tiny gadgets can do.

Hands-On Coding Fun

During the workshop, pupils learned to program their micro:bits to:

  • Beat like a heart
  • Play fun sounds
  • Spell out their names
  • Play Rock, Paper, Scissors
  • Measure and display the classroom temperature

Each activity challenged the children to think logically, test their ideas, and problem-solve — all while having a fantastic time.

Lots of Learning, Lots of Smiles

It was wonderful to see so much:

  • Curiosity
  • Problem‑solving
  • Creativity
  • Teamwork

The session truly brought computing to life and showed just how exciting coding can be.

A huge thank you to Les for delivering such an engaging, hands-on experience. The children absolutely loved it, and they came away feeling confident, inspired, and eager to learn even more.

What a brilliant day of digital discovery!
