Last week, our Year 6 pupil ambassadors from St Paul’s Catholic Primary School in Billingham attended the Holocaust Memorial Service at St Michael’s Catholic Academy, representing our school with dignity, compassion, and deep respect.
The service was a powerful reminder of why we must continue to stand united against hatred and injustice. This year’s Holocaust Memorial Day theme, “Bridging Generations,” encouraged everyone to think about the importance of passing on lessons from the past so future generations can help build a kinder, fairer world.
Our pupils created a beautifully decorated memorial stone, which they placed at the statue—an act that felt truly fitting for this year’s message. Their thoughtful engagement throughout the service showed great maturity, empathy, and understanding of the significance of remembrance.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the pupil leaders and staff at St Michael’s Catholic Academy for welcoming us so warmly and guiding such a meaningful and reflective commemoration.
We remember.
We learn.
We stand together.
