Welcome to Year 6
Class teacher: Mrs Wilson
Teaching Assistant: Miss Wood
This year the children are in their final class at St. Paul’s Primary School. This is an exciting time in the children’s lives as it marks the end of their primary schooling. Throughout the year the children will be using all of the skills and knowledge they have learned here at St. Paul’s, as we prepare them to transition into secondary school and provide them with lifelong learning.
In Class 6 we strive to be enthusiastic and hardworking learners who support each other and demonstrate determination, perseverance and resilience to become to best we can be.
We have a safe and nurturing environment in our classroom, where children feel that their thoughts and opinions are valued. The children’s well-being is of fundamental importance to their educational development and we use an open dialogue between home and school to reinforce this.
Within our class, we celebrate the way that we are all unique and we encourage each other to get along with others. We try to develop positive relationships and to accept when we do something wrong. We try to move on and learn from our mistakes.
Good behaviour is recognised and encouraged at all times. Attitude and effort are rewarded through our Dojo points. The children are reminded to follow our class charter and refer to our school values and behaviour policy.
In Year 6 the children get lots of opportunities to meet many special visitors and develop their curriculum learning through hands on experiences. All of which provide an enriching curriculum.
We have a very busy timetable. Please view our current Newsletter for our Curriculum topics.
How you can help at home…
Encourage your child to read every night.
Take an interest in what your child is reading. Ask them questions about the book they are reading to help develop their comprehension skills.
Remind your child to bring their reading book to school every day.
Help your child to learn their weekly spellings.
Help your child to practice their times tables up to 12×12 and the corresponding division facts off by heart.
