Welcome to Year 5
In Year 5, Mrs Peacock is the current class teacher until Mrs Wilson returns from maternity leave. There are 31 children in our class and Miss Wood and Mrs Taylor help to support our learning. We have a busy day in school and are expected to be hard-working and co-operative. We try to be the best we can be by being resilient learners who recognise when things are difficult but continue to persevere. We try to support each other, showing compassion to others and recognising our differences. We have a safe and nurturing classroom environment, where every child has their thoughts and opinions valued. As a result, our classroom is a pleasant place to learn where we develop good relationships and grow together.
As we move further up the school it is important that we are excellent role models for younger children and become more independent learners. We therefore look forward to taking on extra responsibilities such as being School Librarians, effective School and Sports Council members and Minnie Vinnies.
We have exciting and engaging subjects to learn about in Year 5 such as the Ancient Mayans, World War 2 and the rainforest. We link art, DT and other practical activities to these topics to make the subjects really come to life.
We are passionate about reading. We love to read for pleasure and we are always eager to share book recommendations.
Our outstanding behaviour, work and effort is recognised in various ways. We are proud to earn points for our school teams and work hard to be awarded dojo points for class-based activities. A ‘Star of the Week’ certificate is also presented on a weekly basis to celebrate the fantastic work, efforts and attitudes we have in Year 5.
We have a very busy timetable. Please view our current Newsletter for further Curriculum information.
