Welcome to Year 4
Mrs Lankford is Year 4’s teacher. We are fortunate enough to also have specialist teachers in PE and in French. Our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Davies who helps us too.
Our Year 4 motto is to be the best we can be and to always learn from our mistakes!
We are very lucky that in Year 4 we learn about a variety of exciting topics, ranging from Ancient Greece, Angry Earth, Sound, Electricity and much more. Our knowledge of different topics takes place across the curriculum in a variety of creative ways. We love Art and getting creative!
Spellings are given out half termly and are posted on Seesaw through an overview of the Half Term and a weekly grid. The children are tested on a Friday each week in a variety of ways. We love to read! We read together for fun, to learn more about the world around us and to explore the English language.
We like to work hard in Year 4 and our outstanding behaviour, effort and work is recognised in various ways. Dojo points are individually awarded for class-based activities, e.g. excellent participation and resilience during tasks. A ‘Star of the Week’ certificate is presented to a child each week who has shown St Paul’s spirit and has made a positive impact to their learning that week. We are always looking for great hand writers, who have worked hard to improve an element of their handwriting, and are all working hard towards gaining a pen licence.
We try to promote independent, resilient learning, by completing homework, practising spellings and times tables, reading and changing our books and generally organising ourselves more independently in preparation for Years’ 5 & 6. Our online learning platform Seesaw serves as a great tool for sharing homework and achievements and along side other online apps such as Times Tables Rockstar’s and Reading Eggspress helps to foster an independent and inquisitive home / school extended learning approach.
We hope you have enjoyed reading about Year 4 – It’s a busy and exciting place to be! Keep your eyes peeled on our website or on Seesaw (if you have a child in Class 4) for updates of our latest learning adventures.
