"The vision of The Early Years Foundation Stage within St Pauls R.C. Primary School is to provide all children with a safe and stimulating environment that builds on their wants, needs and interests. We are committed to giving our children the best possible start to their school life teaching those skills that ensure their well-being, confidence and happiness combined with a love for learning".

Welcome to St. Paul’s Nursery

St. Paul’s Nursery is a fun and exciting place with varied activities and provision which enhances play and creates many learning opportunities. Our nursery is safe and stimulating both indoors and out. Our learning environment enables children to explore, investigate, experiment and discover the world around them. By building on previous knowledge and experiences children are encouraged to challenge themselves and problem solve, furthering their understanding and learning. We aim to encourage, enhance and develop each unique individual giving them the confidence and independence to access the wide range of stimulating activities, both adult led and child initiated, provided in our nursery.

Our experienced early years team are aware that learning occurs when children are happy, safe and engaged, our nurturing approach reflects this. Communication and links with home are integral to the way we work, parental/carer partnership is enhanced through our home learning journals and interactive stay and play sessions throughout the year. Our Catholic ethos underpins our curriculum throughout the school and this is reflected in nursery life continuously, parents/carers will be invited to share with us special stay and pray sessions during the year.

We are a 26 place nursery and have two three hour sessions per day. The morning session is from 8.30 to 11.30 and the afternoon session is 12.30 to 3.30. During the nursery session we have snack time, children are offered a drink of milk and a piece of fruit.

Our curriculum both indoor and outdoor is centred around seven different areas of development.

These areas are –

Personal, Social and Emotional
Physical
Communication and Language
Literacy
Mathematics
Knowledge and Understanding of the World
Expressive Art and Design

Outdoor learning is part of our everyday curriculum. Children will need appropriate outdoor clothing for example wellies and raincoats/sunhats.
