About our governors
St Paul’s School has a committed and skilled governing body who bring with them a range of backgrounds and expertise which both support and challenge in delivery effective governance and leadership to the school.
Several of the governors work on behalf of the Parish of St Thomas of Canterbury in a range of roles including Eucharistic Ministers and Catechists.
Governors are “volunteers” giving their time and energy to support the pupils and staff of St Paul’s School. In return they have the satisfaction of knowing they are making a real difference to the education and well- being of children within St Paul’s School.
The chair of Governor’s, Mrs Michelle Henderson, can also be contacted through governors support if anyone interested in becoming a governor would like an informal chat.
The governing body has a duty to determine the direction and policies of the school, to monitor its standards and be held to account for its conduct and performance. Visiting the school is one of the key ways to discover how it functions, and to keep under review how it operates to increase the governing body’s first-hand knowledge, informing strategic decision making. Therefore we have several link governors who liaise with the Phase Stage Leaders as follows:-
Safeguarding – Mrs L. Stockton
Religious Education– Dr P. Crawshaw
Special Educational Needs – Mr C. Dos Santos
EYFS Foundation Stage – Mrs M Henderson
Phase 1 Leader – Mr A. Cairnie
Phase 2 Leader – Mr C. Dos Santos
PE and School Sport – Mr C. Dos Santos
The link governors work to a timetables schedule, with a clear focus for their visit with written reports presented to the full governing body.
